Storytime!

Hello!

So, as you could probably could tell, I absolutely LOVE the show Supernatural. Well, back in 2019, I was fortunate enough to meet three cast members of Supernatural, as well as meet a cast member for the tv show The Walking Dead! So, here are some stories from the convention where I met them!

Day 1 (Friday):

Before I begin, I want to point out that the convention was called Sci-Fi Valley Con in Altoona, PA, and I went with my dad. So, I remember vividly leaving school early, as it was the second to last day I believe, and I was so excited because I was about to meet Seth Gilliam, who plays Father Gabriel on The Walking Dead. So, I’m wearing my Walking Dead shirt I forget where I got it, and my dad first drives us to the hotel to check in, we put our things away, and I can’t wait to meet him, and my dad gets the tickets, and we go in. We’re walking around the various venders, and we discover when we’re about to go to a Q&A session with Seth that he had to postpone his session until the next day because he had to finish filming something for The Walking Dead, cause at the time season 10 was still in production. So, my dad decides that, “Hey, since we’re already here, let’s just get autographs and pictures now, and we’ll go out and eat.” I agree, and we go to where the autographs were. Now, I had a painting I made that I wanted signed by the people I was meeting. The first person I talk to is Mark Pellegrino, who plays Lucifer/Nick on Supernatural. He was super cool to meet, and was nice. Then, the next booth over was David-Hayden Jones, who played Ketch on Supernatural. He was so cool to meet! We got to talking, and I asked him about a blooper I remember seeing on the Supernatural season 12 gag reel, which involved the leads Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles making fun of the way he was saying chupacabra. I had asked him how he kept a straight face during all of that. He told me that he didn’t actually know Jared and Jensen were doing that, which was hilarious! So, we finish talking and I meet Adam Fergus, who played Mick Davis on Supernatural. He was a lovely guy and really liked my painting I made.

After all that excitement, we walked around for a bit, and then we decided to go back to the hotel room and rest and eat before returning. Now, when I got the autographs, I was wearing a Walking Dead t-shirt. I had outfits picked out for the week, coordinating them with who we were meeting. So, when we were at the hotel, I get changed into a Supernatural shirt, and we leave. We go back to the con center, and I decide to get my picture taken with the trio from Supernatural.

Funny story with that photo. So, it’s my turn to get my picture taken, and I handed them each the paintings I got in the photo, which I made during the week. I remember everyone loving them, and Mark sees the size of the canvas of the other two, and he says, “I hope mine is that big, too.” and I feel bad and I hand him his, and it’s obviously the smaller canvas. I apologize, and I sit down in between them, and they’re holding them up and the photogropher, Charlie, is having problems with the flash, and before Adam had been saying the quote I painted on his painting in the British accent he uses for the show, and I start laughing, and then he goes. “What are you doing, Charlie!” or something similar, and I start laughing, which is why my photo looks like that.

Then we walk around more and wait for Mark to get ready for his “King of Hell” themed pictures. So, I walk up, and I go to hug him, and I say thank you and I get the picture back later.

So after that, and I get my photo back, I find that there’s a booth for Random Acts, which is the charity that Misha Collins, the other co-star of Supernatural, though he wasn’t there, and I say Hi and talk with the lovely ladies and talk to the person next door, whose booth dealt with the Supernatural mental healthline, if I’m remembering correctly. We go eat and then head home for the night.

Day 2 (Saturday):

So, the events that take place this day are photo ops, Q&A sessions, and many cool memories. We get up and eat breakfast and leave, then go to the convention center. We arrive just before the gates opened. WHen they did open, I went to the Random Acts booth, and they had this scavenger hunt, which was various items we had to find to complete the items, and you had to get creative. And I was the first to complete it, so I got mentioned on the Random Acts: NE division’s twitter:

So thenI got a lot of pictures taken with some cosplayers at the convention:

Then I went to a Q&A session for Supernatural, which someone actually recorded.

As you saw in the video, I had a lot of fun during this panel!

As I mentioned before, Seth Gilliams panel had been delayed from the previous day to this day. It was right after the SPN panel. I remember sitting right up front, and my dad knew who Seth was. And he sat down at the desk, and was chatting a bit, and he accidently swore, and he was like. “Is there any kids here?” And he looks at me and I go. “I’m 16.” Not really caring that he swore and I remember him saying, “Then you can *bad word* deal with it.” And everyone was laughing. We had a good time and I got my question answered. The panel ended, and we got some food and I got an autograph with Seth Gilliam and my picture with him.

So after I got my autograph, I decided to get a picture with David Hayden-Jones and Adam Fergus with a replica of the black ’67 Chevy Impala, affectionatly named “Baby” by Supernatural fans.

So the funny story is when I walked up to them, and I say hi and they notice how short I am, so they put me on the cooler and I about tripped when I got on, and I turned around and I had my arms around the boys and smiled and got the photo taken and got it soon after. Then my dad and I went to the hotel after seeing I hadn’t won any drawings from the Random Acts booth.

Day 3 (Sunday):

So, this day I got my picture taken with this lovely cosplayer:

I also completed a drawing for the Random Acts booth, and completed it first, so I got entered into a drawing and on the Twitter.

I didn’t win any of the drawings, but I did get a prize package from the company that owned the replica Impala.

So that was cool and I thanked them. We went home and I was so happy.

Those are all the stories from my time at Sci-Fi Valley Con in Altoona, Pa. I was suppose to go last year (2020) but as we all know, that didn’t happen. I hope 2021 brings more joy and normalcy.
